Make a wish...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Randomly turning on the T.V. yesterday I started watching the film “Hearts in\u00a0Atlantis”. I’d never heard of it before, but with Anthony Hopkins you surely can’t go too far wrong.<\/p>\n

I wasn’t disappointed. It wont blow your mind, but it is nice.<\/p>\n

At one point the young boy asked to the character played by Anthony Hopkins, “Will I ever see you again?”<\/p>\n

The reply could have been a vague, bullshit answer that most of us give so we don’t say “no” or hurt someone’s feelings.<\/p>\n

In this case he replied with the truth<\/strong>\u00a0even knowing the child would be hurt by it, saying:<\/p>\n

No. \u00a0And wishing can’t make it so.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So simple, and yet a principle so powerful that it’s odd how we forget\/ignore it at every opportunity as we can.<\/p>\n

Children are full of dreams and wishes, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s healthy to add a dose of reality where appropriate now and again.<\/p>\n

Recently I’ve been facing this problem where I feel I’m living somewhat in denial of certain aspects in my life. But by just wishing for the opposite and ignoring the reality, I’m\u00a0ultimately going to get hurt and frustrated that it all didn’t turn out as I’d “wished” for.<\/p>\n

What little voices are you ignoring?<\/h2>\n

What do you know just now that cannot work out the way you want, but you’re continuing down the same path anyway?<\/p>\n

The key here is acceptance<\/strong> – realising where you are, accepting the consequences of this, and moving forward with a new or at least slightly altered plan.<\/p>\n

This is not pessimism\u00a0or fatalism. But a reality check – if something isn’t working, fix it.<\/p>\n

If you’re stressing about something over which you feel you have little\/no control… it’s time to start being honest with yourself.<\/p>\n

Because wishing can’t make it so…<\/p>\n
